Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you.
Have you ever went to the church in your community that said all of the ‘right’ things scripturally, confessionally, and biblically, but didn’t display kindness toward one another?
What did you think? Did you go back?
We fight many issues in the Christian culture. However, none of them might be destroying the church as much as unkindness. Every time a church has a bad business meeting it cost them greatly in the digital age. Why would people go to a church that is being torn apart on Facebook? Why would a visitor go to a church with a bad reputation on Google?
Obviously, we are going to have our differences and make mistakes. That is when we forgive and restore relationships. That shows the world the difference that Christ has made in our lives. We readily embrace the healing of a relationship between church members instead of going out separate ways.
As we prepare sermons, church bulletins, and more things for Sunday, let’s remember that people are drawn to kindness. Unkind behavior is destroying too many churches.
