I have been a fan of baseball since I was in middle school. One of my favorite memories is Game 7 of the 1992 NLCS. Braves vs. Pirates with the Pirates leading by one going into the 9th inning. With 2 outs the Braves send Francisco Cabrera to the plate and he wins the game for them. #SidBreamSlide
Now that the silly one game playoff and NLDS/ALDS series are over, I thought I would offer some thoughts on who is going to the World Series.
First this will be the most intriguing league championship series in years. You have four teams that haven’t won World Series Championships in many years. 3of these teams have young, exciting players who haven’t played at this level before (except Royals). Each team has at least one dominating pitcher. Each team has a couple of great everyday players. Should be fun.
Cubs Vs. Mets – Everything in me wants the Cubs to win. I’d love to live in a world where the Cubs win the World Series in 2015 – the year Back To The Future predicted them to win. The Cubs have Jake Arietta who should be good for 2 wins. The Mets have the best young pitching staff since the 90s Braves. I know those Braves pitchers really struggled in the playoffs other than John Smoltz. The Mets staff is a lot more like Smoltz than Glavine/Maddux. They have strikeout pitchers which are the ones that tend to do the best in the series.
Game 1 is huge for the Cubs. They have Lester Vs. Harvey. If the Cubs win Game 1 they have to feel good going into game 2 with Arietta pitching. The Cubs have good young hitters too and a lot of momentum. Unfortunately momentum is only as good as the next’s day starting pitcher. I believe this series goes at least 6 and probably 7. Cubs swept the Mets in the regular season, but that never matters. Lester and Arietta should equal 3 wins for Cubs. The problem is I’m not sure where that other win comes from. I want the Cubs to win, but…nevermind I’m picking the Cubs just because I want too.

Royals vs. Blue Jays
The Blue Jays were the favorite to win World Series going into playoffs. They got down 2 games to 0 to the Rangers. They swept the Rangers with an epic bat flip from Jose Bautista. They have all of the momentum and by far the best pitcher in this series. If Cueto pitches well then the Royals have a shot, but the Blue Jays just have too much talent.
