I love to have family movie nights. One of the joys of Christmas is watching Christmas movies as a family. One of the tough things is finding a movie that appeals and is safe for our family. It is hard to keep the attention of 3 kids under the age of 4!
Elf has been on a lot this Christmas season. I thought my preschool age daughter would think it is hilarious. She loves pratfall humor.
A few minutes after the movie started we began to hear crying. She turned around with tears in her eyes and said, “Daddy! Is the baby okay?”
The part of the movie where the baby Buddy finds his way into Santa’s bag was troubling for her. Who knew?!?
This is the third time this has happened with her. She cried when Big Baby was hurt during Toy Story 3. She cried at the news a few months ago involving a baby. In fact we stopped watching the Atlanta news because of the stories.
This is a sweet reminder of the heart of a child. So gentle and caring – at least when siblings aren’t involved. May that kindness and mercy last as long as possible. Just another side of the innocence of children that we enjoy during the holiday season.
